Phone tips and tricks

How to avoid waiting forever with call center

Despite the almost universal prevalence of tone dialing, there still exist pulse dial telephones.

The easiest way to avoid the 'push-button' menu systems, is to simply not press any buttons at all. As there is no tone input, the menu system will automatically forward you to an operator. The main disadvantage to this, is if you connect to a company that thinks it is cool to have a 20 minute 'blurb' prior to letting you speak to an operator.

Some companies avoid this little trick by implementing voice recognition systems. These systems, however, are just as simple to get around. To avoid these systems, you either 'overload' their recognition systems by introducing a large amount of background noise, or you simply don't say anything at all.

Either way, you will once again be forwarded to a human operator.
